15 DAYS UGANDA RWANDA CULTURAL EXPERIENCE

DAY 1ARRIVAL

Our professional driver guide will meet and greet you upon your arrival at the airport. He will then transfer you to your hotel and depending on your time of arrival you will be briefed about your safari, you may also be taken around the city acquaint yourself with Uganda as well as have some money changed 

DAY 2 ENTEBBE- KAMAPALA

Early morning breakfast and we shall start off with a briefing of our tour just in case you had not been briefed the day before then continue to Kigungu a place where the first Christian missionaries first landed in Uganda. We will then continue to Kisubi where the camped from Kigungu. We will the hit Kampala to explore the various religious and cultural sites like Namugongo martyrs shrine, the old Kampala/Gadaffi mosque, Namirembe Cathedral, the bahai mosque among others as time allows.   

DAY 3 CULTURAL TOUR BUGANDA TRAIL

Today we will explore Buganda and the Baganda people who are so far the most dominant tribe in Uganda we will vist the Kabaka’s palace and parliament, the Kabaka’s lake, Kasubi tombs and the Uganda museum . Depending on the availability we may enjoy a cultural performance from the Ndere cultural performers in a beautiful open grand arena.

DAY 4 TRANSFERS TO WESTERN UGANDA

After a good night’s rest and breakfast you will be picked from your hotel for a cultural expedition to the southwestern part of Uganda. But first we will stopover at the Nagalabi coronation site in Buddo and the Katereke prison ditch before we proceed. We will also stopover at the Mpambire drum makers in Mpigi and the equator. After which our next stop will be at Igongo cultural centre in Mbarara. Here we will have a brief understanding of the culture of these people through their well laid out museum and cultural centre. If you would like a taste of the local foods, this is a good spot to try but they also offer western dishes.

DAY 5 NSHENYI VILLAGES

Rise and shine this is the famous land of honey and milk, and the home of the long horned cattle. Today we will spend our day in the Nshenyi cultural village where we will have a firsthand experience of the Banyankole culture. Taking care of the cattle milking them, looking after a bride to be among other cultural norms it is a great experience.

DAY 6 LAKE BUNYONYI VIA GREAT LAKES MUSEUM

Transfer to Kisoro via Kabale where will stopover at the great lakes museum a museum the houses the regalia and other beautiful articles pertaining to the Bakiga people. We will then proceed to Lake Bunyonyi where if time allows we could take a boat to the punishment island. Where girls who got pregnant before marriage were taken for punishment and many of them died trying to swim back.

DAY 7 BATWA EXPERIENCE IN MGAHINGA

Drive to Mgahinga gorilla national park where we will be enjoying our next experience with the Batwa people. These little people will guide you as you hike through the forest that they once called home but were evicted for purposes of conservation. Listen to their tales, songs and enjoy their dance as they tell express their experience with the forest. Hunting fruit gathering and visits to the medicine man are some of the many experiences they take you through.

DAY 8 GORILLAS TREKKING AND CULTURAL EXPERIENCE

There is no trip that is complete without an experience with the gorillas especially that you are within their home area. We will drive to the park headquarters for a briefing before we take on to the forested slopes covered with towering trees and thick undergrowth. Depending on your luck you may meet the gorillas a few hours or minutes after starting or it may take a while but you will definitely come face to face with the gentle and humble hairy cousin of yours. The hour allowed with them is unexplainable you only have to be their to experience it yourself. Later in the afternoon depending on   the time we come back from tracking and the energy we could go through with a community walk to the blacksmith, schools, hospital among others.

DAY 9 TRANSFERS TO RWANDA

Not that, that’s all we have to offer, but we thinks it is also a goo thing that you should get to see what Rwanda has to offer as well. Today we will transfer to Rwanda in particular musanze/Ruhengeri.

DAY 10:

 Today there a lot of activities you could take part in their choice is yours you can either visit Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, based in the community bordering Parc National des Volcans. At the village, you will have a wonderful, interactive experience, learning all about Rwandan traditions, culture, song and dance you are also free to participate.  There is a provision for the second gorilla trek. Or Visit to Ruhengeri Market, providing you with an opportunity to see and buy local Rwandan fabrics, foods, handicrafts, etc. and to see how local markets are organized. Or Visit the twin lakes, Lake Burera and Lake Ruhondo and marvel at the views of the Virunga mountain chains

DAY 11 TRANSFER TO LAKE KIVU

Today we will drive to Lake Kivu one of the largest lakes in Africa and a perfect spot for resting. You can choose to enjoy the tropical African sun by the lake or take a boat cruise on the lake or vist the nearby fishing villages.

DAY 12 NYUNGWE

Rise to the beautiful melodies of birds and the golden sun rays streaming through your hotel curtain windows. Rise for breakfast and we will then continue to Nyungwe forest. Depending on the time we arrive we can use the afternoon to trek through. The tea plantations and the forest search of the colobus monkey. Depending on our luck we could also encounter other species like the l’hoest among others.

DAY 13: CHIMPANZEE TREKKING

Early morning we will assemble at the visitors centre for a formal briefing about our chimpanzee trekking adventure before we make it into the tropical forest in search of the playful creatures. They are a delight to watch as they skip from one fruiting tree to another

DAY 14 NYANZA BUTARE

Begin our journey to Butare the original capital and intellectual centre of Rwanda. Passing through magnificent hills and cultivated countryside, we will also stop along to visit the famous King’s Palace in Nyanza, which offers visitors a window into pre-colonial Rwandan history. For those who are interested, we can also visit the art museum at Rwesero Nyanza.  In Butare, we will visit the National Museum of Rwanda, which will provide you with a deeper insight into Rwandan history and culture. 

DAY 15 KIGALI CITY TOUR

Today our professional guide will take you through Kigali city the capital of Rwanda, the safest and cleanest city. Kigali’s face is her fortune: a dramatic beauty from which its name is derived. We will vist the 1994 Gisozi Genocide Memorial site, Amahoro stadium, visit crafts shops among others spots. Later we can visit the crystal view cocktail lounge for spectacular panoramic views of Kigali city a vivid reminder or why it is the land of a thousand hills.

DAY 16 DEPARTURE

We hope you had a great trip and Depending on your flight time you will be taken to Kigali international airport in time for your flight back home. If you have some time you could be taken around for last minute shopping before the airport drop off.
